This new cookbook takes us into the kitchen of this legendary kosher New York Steakhouse. Who can forget the meals they’ve enjoyed at this restaurant, the deliciousness of the aged steaks, the pommes frites paired with a glass of red wine? Co-author Chef Mark Hennesey, a graduate of Culinary Institute of America is executive chef of Le Marais and works alongside owner Jose Meirelles. Quite a team.
The book inspires the reader to cook like a chef…covering sauces, vinaigrettes, tips for meat, poultry and fish preparation and lots of cooking advice. There are no boundaries for these authors, sharing international recipes for sausage, duckling, kosher bacon, pot au feu,ranging from both the exotic to comfort foods. We find the recipes for Puree du pomme (creamy mashed potatoes), poultry bread stuffing and non-dairy Caesar salad simply irresistible. Each page, each dish is motivational to a dedicated home cook. The recipes are clearly explained, and shortcuts are offered.

Le Marais steakhouse is located in mid- Manhattan close to the theater district. FYI: There is a butcher shop at the very front of the restaurant – certainly not for the budget minded, but certainy splurge and special occasion worthy – with some of the most delicious and unique cuts of meat anywhere.
