About Hagafen Cellars:
Hagafen Cellars is located in the Napa Valley, in the heart of California's premier wine grape region. Owned and operated by Irit and Ernie Weir, the winery was founded in 1979, and the first commercially released vintage was harvested in 1980. In the ensuing years, they have grown from a small partnership producing wine with grapes from Winery Lake Vineyard, then owned by Rene DiRosa, to a well-established wine company whose wines are distributed throughout North America and overseas. Since 1980 Hagafen wines have been served on numerous occasions at the White House to visiting foreign dignitaries
Ernie's daily involvement in the two sides of wine production, grape growing and winemaking, ensures the superb quality of our wines. "Fine wine starts in the vineyard with careful vineyard management," says Weir. "I strive to take maximum advantage of the Napa Valley's natural geology and climate to produce the best wine varietals. I interfere as little as possible with the soil, creating a balance that minimizes the chemical and erosion impact by using modern farming techniques while maintaining the age-old wisdom of balance and the traditional values of conservation and land stewardship. Once harvest is completed, I undertake the second part of my job, winemaking. This presents an interesting challenge every time since each year the growing season and harvest are unique and different. I never seek to change what Nature has provided. My goal is to showcase the best that our land has produced."

2012 Don Ernesto's Clarinet Tempranillo
Red Table Wine
This lovely everyday or any day selection is a Tempranillo, Vintage 2012.
Like a rainbow or a puppy or a picture of yourself when you were slightly flushed, a good wine should make you feel happy to be alive, enjoying life, surrounded by family and friends. Don Ernesto's Clarinet is just that kind of fun in a bottle--and a slightly quixotic (and musical) winegrower, too. This Clarinet is all about bright times: open it and open your life to its fruity red goodness, its nose of smoky cherry and vanilla and its mouth of red fruits.

2007 Hagafen Brut Cuvée Late Disgorged Sparkling Wine
Toast Mom, Grad, Dad, the Bride and Groom with this memorable bubbling selection-- perfect for any special occasion.
"Come quickly, I am drinking the stars!" This quote, attributed to Dom Dom Pérignon, is exactly how we felt when we tried our Brut Cuvée Late Disgorged Sparkling Wine. This elegant bubbly is full, clean, and beautiful just like a star.
From first glance this sparkler will give you starry eyes with its soft, slightly rosy, hue and multitude of tiny shining bubbles. The heavenly aroma of strawberries and cream mixed with a bready toastiness will take you into space. On the palate the soft fruit of lychee and crisp apple orbit around the creaminess and bright acidity. The tiny bubbles tickle your soft palette and burst against your tongue like shooting stars. A full round mouth finishes clean and sparkly and leaves a twinkle in your eye."

Picture a perfect summer day, temperature is in the mid 80's, a light breeze is gently caressing your skin and you are with the person you most want to be with. The aroma of peach sun-tea is in your glass. The scent of sun-warmed apples hanging on their branches and the smell of Joseph's Coat roses climbing the trellis is heady in the air. You sit and enjoy the taste of juicy, tangy, apricots, sweet ripe clementine's and candied Meyer lemon zest. This Riesling is the epitome of that day.Wine Specs:

This beautiful release of Cabernet reminds us that Cab can be both bright and dark; fruit forward and bold; soft and yet strong. The aromatic nose is redolent of mixed dark berries and currant balanced with hints of rosemary and herbs. The bouquet is full and round with a dusty chocolate aroma, a hint of lovely soft vanilla and just a dash of cinnamon.
As soon as this wine hits the tongue it explodes with flavor. Bright Bing cherries chase red plum around the palate. A light mint and whisper of floral is mixed with the essence of summer blackberries, which carries through to the finish. The well-structured tannins are soft, yet daring, allowing the wine to either be enjoyed with big bold meals or quietly sipped on its own.
This robust, silky and intensely inky-colored Cabernet Sauvignon wine is grown in the well-drained, stony and iron-rich soils of the Weir Family Vineyard along the Silverado Trail, one mile south of the famed Stags’ Leap appellation and ten yards from the Oak Knoll District, the Valley’s newest sub-appellation. The rich, spicy nose of bakers’ chocolate and black cherry compliments the brooding and spice-filled black licorice, black cherry, plum and cranberry on the palate. Aged for 19 months in small French and American oak cooperage, our Cabernet Sauvignon will flourish with bottle age. This wine is surely a treasure to keep for many years in your personal cellar.

We always prided ourselves on producing varietally true releases of Merlot, and the 2006 Prix Reserve Napa Valley, Vichy Vineyard Block 4, Reserve Merlot is no exception. We are so happy to be able to produce a Cabernet Franc on it’s own. All too often is this beautiful varietal only used in blending. The father of Cabernet Sauvignon should get it’s own bottle! (Yes, Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc we hybrid together to create Cabernet Sauvignon about 800 years ago, give or take a hundred.)
The fleshy, supple nose of the exquisite wine wows you with violets, red currants and sun warmed Lincoln Rose. This flows to a mouth bursting with flavors of the deep forest glen: rich earth, deep dark black cherries and rose hips. The lush, round, velvety mouth is mixed with a tannic structure that is beginning to soften and will continue to do so for years to come.

Pinot – We missed you! We are so happy, thrilled and excited to have you back! After a 3-year hiatus we have found a wonderful Pinot Noir Vineyard worthy of creating a Hagafen wine. This new-to-us vineyard is found in the new Coombsville American Viticultural Area. This is the very same AVA where our amazing Wieruszowski vineyard is located.
This bright lively Pinot jumps out of the glass with aromas of juicy cranberry and lush strawberry. A spicy toastiness is rounded by subtle hints of clove and cinnamon. Once this wine hits the palate the sense of bright cranberries and strawberries is expanded and enhanced with mild tannis and a lush full mouth. This attractive and fresh wine beacons you to take another sip!

Enjoy a glass of Pinot Noir with Grilled Salmon with Strawberry Salsa.
Our Reserve Prix wines are just that: reserve. We believe that some years yield more generous, luscious wines than other seasons and for Prix Reserve Chardonnay, 2010 was that season. This is a beautiful complex wine with a lush deep nose and rich length across the palate. The nose takes you to a tropical paradise. It's as if you are sitting on the beach with the scents of pineapple and star fruit wafting by you on a warm evening breeze. The coconuts up in their trees make an appearance in both the aromatics and mouth of this round wine. Laying softly across the whole palate, this wine continues is tropic vacation with toasted pineapple and plantains.

Our seventh vintage, this 2008 Napa Valley Estate Bottled Syrah is the first made from our newest vineyard: Weir Family Vineyard III in the Eastern foothills of the Valley. On the nose, our Syrah shows aromas of red and black fruits. This inky, dark red wine fills the mouth with firm, meaty tannins, complementing a rich mix of cherry, black cherry, chocolate, and leather. With an extremely long finish, this well-structured Syrah begs for the accompaniment of food--anything roasted and in need of a wine able to accent and deepen the experience of hearty meat dishes.
