Wine of the Week
Prix is for the man or woman who enjoys only the best… and who will welcome nothing else. This reserve release manifests the same philosophy of passion, flavor, and flair; no Prix Vineyards bottling is the same as any other − each is the finest selection of the year’s harvest bounty. The 2007 release presents aromas of orange blossoms, honey, and citrus fruits. On the palate is a glorious mix of apricots, citrus, and lemon pie that dances on the tongue. This is the wine you think of when you hear the words “reserve Riesling.” Accept nothing less: PRIX. Only 400 cases produced.

The 2007 Cuvée de Noirs is a wine of tremendous complexity and length made from two esteemed mid-Valley vineyards: 78% Pinot Noir from California Soleil and 22% Chardonnay from Hall Vineyard. It presents aromas of citrus, red fruits and white chocolate with hints of melon, tea, and toast. On the palate is an even more complex combination of flavors, including tropical fruits, citrus, red berries, chocolate, tea, and bread. The finish is long and satisfying, a classic example of excellent New World Sparkling Wine.

Roussanne is a beautiful, hard to find alone, Rhone varietal. For those who are not familiar with this wine we consider it the Sauvignon Blanc of Chardonnay. If that does not make sense now, it will when you try this wonderful wine. The nose of this alluring wine has notes of sweet hay and wild flowers. The wine moves seamlessly into a mouth of Galia melon, lychee, Asian pear and green apple. A crisp mouth feel, but with a soft creamy edge, finishes out the tasting experience.
This Roussanne is produced from grapes grown in the Ripken Vineyard, a site renowned for its ability to lend white varietals complexity and fruitiness, qualities required for a food friendly wine. Roussanne, especially this one, is an extremely versatile wine that pairs well with foods ranging from grilled fish to garlic chicken to creamy pastas.
