This recipe, from A&B Famous Gefilte Fish, is a different way to serve their famous frozen product.
Ingredients:
1 package (22 ounces) A&B Famous Salmon (or regular) Gefilte Fish, cut into 1/2-inch slices (do not defrost)
1 egg beaten slightly
1 tablespoon water
1/2 cup matzo meal or ground nuts
1/2 teaspoon tarragon or parsley
1/2 teaspoon thyme
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon basil
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray cooking sheet with vegetable spray, or oil lightly.
Beat egg slightly. Mix with one tablespoon of water. Set aside. In another plate, combine the matzo meal, tarragon, thyme, paprika, basil, and pepper.
Dip frozen fish slices into egg and then into seasoned matzo meal.
Arrange the coated slices on prepared pan and bake in preheated oven for approximately 10 minutes. Turn over the slices and continue to bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve with lemon and lime wedges.
Frying variation: Preheat oil in skillet until hot. Fry coated cutlets on both sides until golden and crispy.
