Making your own pita chips is a good alternative to store bought. These are low in fat are delicious served with dips or as a snack. This recipe features sea salt but you can add any variety of spices and herbs.
Preheat oven at 400F Degrees.
Using Pita Bread, cut the round pita in half, then into triangle shapes.
After cutting them into triangle shapes, separate the pita in half. You are left with a thin triangle pita shape.
Place on a baking sheet wrapped in foil, keep flat at one layer. Do not overlap or it will not get crispy.
With a pastry brush dab with a little extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle with a sea salt to taste. Optional: Season with herbs and spices of choice.
Place in the oven and bake for 6 minutes, take the tray out after the cooking time, flip over and place back in the oven for another 6 minutes or until desired crisp is achieved. (cooking time depends on your oven, so do make sure to check often so it does not burn)
Serve alone or with a wide variety of your favorite dips. Enjoy!
