Tuna Casserole – The Best



A classic, but still very popular.  We love this recipe for Tuna Casserole. It is an easy to prepare, one dish meal combining protein, vegetables and dairy. The ingredients can be combined, refrigerated and baked later in the day.


1 or 2 cans tuna in water – drained and flaked
1 12–ounce package medium wide noodles – cooked according to package directions and drained
8 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
1 16–ounce sized boxed Portobello Creamy Mushroom soup, like Imagine Brand or 1 can cream of mushroom soup* and 8 ounces milk
1 8–ounce can French fried onion rings like French’s
8 ounces of drained frozen sweet peas, or cut green beans, or peas and carrots


Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Mix all ingredients together and place into a 9 x 13–inch casserole dish.

Bake uncovered  at 350 degrees for about 35 minutes or until bubbly.

For a creamer version, substitute 1/2 cup milk and 1/2 cup mayonnaise for the 8-ounces of milk. To add a touch of "spice", add 1/2 teaspoon dried mustard such as Coleman's. Additional dried onions and cheese can be placed on top of the casserole prior to baking. Top with potato chips or substitute crunchy Chinese noodles for onion rings

Yield: Serves 6, Double or Triple if desired

*we use Walmart Great Value Brand Cream of Mushroom Soup, OU kosher, dairy
