As we have stated previously, we are unabashed members of the Ina Garten fan club. We admire her on many levels - for her courage to leave behind a flourishing career as a nuclear budget analyst at the White House, to following her passion and hard work to achieve a wildly successful redirection into the culinary world.
In 1978 Ina entered the food world as a gourmet caterer and retailer when she purchased The Barefoot Contessa, a Hampton's Long Island specialty food store. Then we watched, as she became a food celebrity, Food Network star and cookbook author. Along with the gracious sharing of recipes and entertaining tips, we enjoy the warmth she exudes with her friends, colleagues and of course her husband Jeffrey – whom she married in 1968.
"Cook Like a Pro" her 11th cookbook, takes the reader into her kitchen sharing recipes and advice she has gathered over the years.
With no formal training – her success is based on teaching herself culinary techniques, and studying cooking with icons such as Julia Child. The book includes many favorite, essential recipes, beautiful photos and a treasury of pro-tips focused on prepping, making, and serving. As Ina says, "You don't have to be a pro to cook like one!"
